When you regularly exercise or experience physical and/or emotional strain from your daily activities, your muscles can feel worn out and fatigued. It may be due to the formation of scar tissue as they deteriorate from use or injury. Getting a massage can help you break these scar tissue layers and release taut or tense muscles.

Massage therapy can provide you with these benefits:

It relieves emotional stress and uplifts moods

Experiencing prolonged periods of stress can cause muscles to contract and produce hormones that leave you feeling heavy and sluggish. Therapeutic massages can help lower levels of these stress hormones and release mood-boosting chemicals. Like exercise, a massage can also release happy hormones called endorphins that can uplift your mood and relieve emotional stress.

It can improve the spinal position and your posture

Physical and emotional stress can also build up in our muscles, particularly the lower and upper back areas. If you have a poor posture to begin with, added stress will exacerbate it.

A regular massage can help relax your muscles and release tension in the joints, particularly the pelvic area or thoracic spine. Muscle imbalances can be addressed with Massage Therapy with less pressure on the back, you can start to sit up straighter without difficulty and maintain the position for prolonged periods.

It can reduce the risk of injury

Helping your muscles recover and perform optimally means you can maintain your balance and use your maximum strength to support yourself. With a full range of motion in your extremities, you can avoid tripping, stumbling, or staggering during exercising or doing rigorous activities, which can often cause self-inflicted injury.

It relieves pain

Deep tissue massage goes below superficial connective tissue with the intent of breaking up old structural patterns, allowing the free flow of nutrients and oxygen in the blood.

Deep tissue massage techniques aim to stimulate blood flow in your muscles, relieve inflammation, and promote cell regeneration. When you feel tension or spasms in your body, deep tissue massages can help by applying direct pressure to tired muscles and connective tissues.

It improves muscle strength and flexibility

Tension can be reduced in the muscles through soft tissue release techniques such as Tissue Release (STR), Myofascial Release and Muscle Energy Technique (MET) which will help increase flexibility. Increasing flexibility will also help to reduce strain put on the joints.
